Drayton Manor is a theme park, resort and zoo based in Staffordshire. Their slogan is “total value family entertainment”. The park sits on 280 acres of land and sees 1.5 million visitors each year.
Originally the Drayton Manor Mansion was built in 1835 and was bombed in 1926. During WW2, the grounds were used by the army to train soldiers. In 1949, George and Vera Byran bought the land and opened a small amusement park for families. The park grew bigger from the 1950’s onwards, and soon became one of the most popular theme parks in the UK. In 1994, the ride Shockwave was opened. It is the only stand-up rollercoaster in Europe and is the only zero-gravity coaster in the world.
