Lightwater Valley is a theme park in Yorkshire, England, which attracts around 500,000 visitors every year. If you are going to be visiting the park and have an enquiry, then call 0844 248 2655 for help. Lightwater Valley was originally a pig farm and then a fruit-picking farm until the creation of the theme park in 1987. The Rat Rollercoaster was the first subterranean rollercoaster in the world, and still exists today as the renovated Raptor Attack. The park is also home to the longest rollercoaster in all of Europe, the Ultimate, which opened in 1991. The ride takes 7.5 minutes to cover more than 7,000 feet of track. The rides at Lightwater Valley are mostly designed for children.

The park closes on weekdays until the end of May and throughout September and October. They are usually open every day for the summer holidays. The gates to the park open at 9.45am, with funfair rides opening from 10am and the rest of the rides opening from 10.30am. Closing times vary from 4.30pm to 6pm depending on the weather. You can call in the morning if you need to check the closing time for that day in advance. You might also want to call to find out about any extra events taking place at the park or to ask about their policies for disabled access. Contact Lightwater Valley as soon as possible to report any lost property.

Tickets

An interesting difference at Lightwater Valley is that they base their ticket prices on height rather than age. This means that customers will get the best value for their experience, as height restrictions will stop some guests from going on certain rides. You can get height confirmation wristbands after being officially measured at the Visitor Information Centre on the day. The height ranges for tickets are under 1m, 1m to 1.3m, and over 1.3m. The taller you are, the more expensive the ticket, though the advance saver rates make visiting the theme park very affordable. You can only get these prices by booking online in advance. You cannot buy tickets over the phone unless it is for a group booking or school trip. However, you can still call 0844 248 2655 if you have any questions about admission.

Attractions

The Lightwater Valley theme park offers over 35 rides, with something suitable for all ages. There are thrill rides for those who are more daring, including Apollo and the Eagle’s Claw. Families can find rides for everyone to go on together, like the Flying Cutlass or Wild River Rapids. There are several children’s play areas for the kids to enjoy. A trip to Lightwater Valley could also be educational, with the Birds of Prey centre offering Hawk Walks and Owl Experiences. Tractor rides are on offer at Eagle’s Creek Farm for visiting farmyard animals like pigs, goats, donkeys, and Shetland ponies. Sometimes rides may not be operational on certain days. If you’re looking forward to a particular ride, then you should call 0844 248 2655 the day before your visit to make sure that it will be open.

Group Visits

Friends, family, work colleagues, or members of clubs can book in advance for great savings on a group day out. Youth groups such as Scouts, Guides, Brownies, and Cubs can benefit from one free group leader ticket per 10 children. There must be a minimum of 15 people in order for you to qualify for group booking discounts. You will save £4 per person compared to booking on the day, and avoid the hassle of booking individual tickets at the same time. Admission for children under 3 years remains free, and it remains at £10 for senior citizens over 60 years old.
