National Express is a long-distance coach company in Great Britain. Since establishing in 1972, National Express has been the leading provider of intercity and inter-regional coach transport in the UK. The company runs services to and from hundreds of towns across the UK every day. They also offer airport transfers and travel to music and sporting events. You can travel to Ireland, France, Belgium, or the Netherlands by coach with National Express. While journeys are bound to take longer, their fares are much cheaper than trains.

Customer Services

Contact National Express on 0844 375 3139 if you have any enquiries about their services. Find out more about the facilities on their coaches, from reclining seats to onboard entertainment with VUER. Check the luggage allowances for services in the UK or Europe to help you plan your journey. You can also call to check if there are any delays or ongoing service disruptions. Contact National Express if you do not receive your tickets or cannot access them. Check with your bank first if you are unsure if your payment was successful.

Ticket Bookings

The cheapest fares will always be available online, but you can still call 0844 249 0907 to book tickets over the phone. However, placing orders through the customer contact centre will incur an additional fee of £2.50 per booking. If you require National Express to send the tickets in the post, delivery will cost another £2.50. You can choose for them to send your tickets via text message instead for £1. Ensure that you leave enough time for your ticket to arrive before your journey. The advisors can help you to locate a suitable service.

Amendments

Once you book a ticket, you cannot amend the departure or arrival points of your journey. However, you can amend the date and time within an hour of booking without having to pay a fee. After this, there will be a £5-6 administration charge to amend the time or date. You will also have to pay any differences in price for the new journey. Fully Flexible tickets are only cancellable up to 72 hours before departure, and standard or restricted tickets are non-refundable. Call 0844 249 0918 if you need to make amendments to a booking.

Coachcards

National Express Coachcards allow travellers to save a third of the price on standard and flexible tickets for a whole year. If you are 16-26 years old or a full-time student, you could save money with a Young Persons Coachcard. There are no peak or off-peak travel time restrictions, and you can even use a Young Persons Coachcard to get 20% off at Pizza Hut. Customers who are registered as disabled can get a Disabled Coachcard. Customers over 60 years old can get a Senior Coachcard. Call 0843 178 3450 for help with Coachcards.

Accessibility

Call 0843 178 3451 to connect to the Assisted Travel team if you have a disability. Wheelchair users intending to travel on a National Express service are advised to call in advance to make arrangements. Most National Express coaches are fitted with a wheelchair lift and wheelchair space. You will need to call to check if the coach for your journey is one of them, and that the wheelchair space is not already booked. Your wheelchair must be compatible with the space. The boarding and alighting points must also be accessible stops.

Complaints

If something goes wrong during your journey with National Express, from booking to stepping off the coach, then call 0843 178 3452. You can make a complaint about the service you received and National Express will investigate. If possible, they will try to put things right and offer you suitable compensation. Reasons to complain might include delays, rude or unhelpful members of staff, unclean interiors, or lack of working Wifi. You should also let National Express know if you see one of their coach drivers driving dangerously.
